US President Donald Trump has welcomed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House for a one-on-one meeting.
"I'm very confident that we will reach a deal on Gaza," Trump declared while hosting Netanyahu at the White House.
At the center of the discussions was the 21-point American plan for peace in Gaza, presented last week on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to Arab and Muslim leaders.
The proposal includes a ceasefire, the release of all hostages still held in Gaza, the establishment of a post-conflict government, security agreements and plans for reconstruction.
A key element of the plan is the US pledge that Israel will not annex parts of the West Bank, a fundamental demand from the Arab countries involved in the talks, which have so far welcomed the initiative.
Meanwhile, a video verified by Al Jazeera and shared on social media shows the moments when Israeli bombs hit a residential neighborhood near al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City.
