Frederick
Prince Frederik of Luxembourg passed away on March 1 in Paris, after a long battle with the rare genetic disease POLG.
The news was announced by his family on the official website of the POLG Foundation, which Frederik founded in 2022.
"With a broken heart, my wife and I would like to inform you of the passing of our son, founder and creative director of the POLG Foundation, Frederik," his father, Prince Robert of Luxembourg, wrote.
POLG is a genetic mitochondrial disorder that inhibits energy production in cells, causing multiple organ failure.
Currently, there is no treatment or cure for this disease.
Despite his health condition, Prince Frederick tried to live with strength and courage.
Even in the last days of his life, Frederic continued with his disciplined routine, including Italian language lessons on Duolingo and daily exercises.
