"We defeated the USA", Tehran adds fuel to the fire!

In a statement that undoubtedly hurts Donald Trump's pride, Iranian chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf described the agreement between Iran and the United States to end the war as a "declaration of America's capitulation."

Speaking at a conference in Azerbaijan broadcast live on Iranian state television, Ghalibaf said the understanding reached in Islamabad was not the result of pressure or coercion, but the result of the resilience and strength of the Iranian people.

"The success of this process did not come from pressure or imposition. It came from the resistance and authority of the courageous Iranian nation ," said Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's chief negotiator.

According to Ghalibaf, the memorandum of understanding reached in Islamabad essentially represents an admission of failure on the part of the United States. He added that security in the Middle East must be guaranteed by the countries of the region themselves, without outside interference.

His claims come at a time when the agreement between Tehran and Washington is being widely analyzed for its impact on the political and security balances in the region. The first round of talks between the US and Iran in Switzerland ended on Tuesday, and there appeared to be a rapprochement of positions.

The mediating states said the atmosphere of the talks was constructive and spoke of "encouraging progress."
