Moscow warns of the risk of a catastrophic direct collision between the nuclear powers.
During the conference on nuclear disarmament in genes, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Serghei Ryabkov said that the United States and NATO are fueling the conflict in Ukraine and around this country even more.
"The increasing involvement of the US and NATO in the conflict increases the risk of a military clash between the nuclear powers with catastrophic consequences", declared the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia.
The statement comes as Russia has intensified its campaign of aggression around Ukraine, with Kiev reporting the repulse of more than 170 attacks in the east and northeast over the past 24 hours. A Russian missile hit a five-story building in the southern city of Zaporizhia in the early hours of Thursday, killing at least three people and injuring six others.
According to rescue teams, the building has almost completely collapsed and there are still people trapped under the rubble.
"People were screaming from the ruins. It was hard to hear them. We are all shocked", says a resident.
Most of the Russian attacks targeted the key city of Bakhmut, which has been fought for for 6 months now, but other areas such as Limani, Avdijvka and Shakhtarsk were also targeted.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the Russian attack in Zaporizhia as an act of terror.
"This terrorist state will transform every day into a day of terror for the Ukrainian people. But evil will not prevail in our land. We will expel all the invaders and they will account for everything. So Moscow announced that a group of Ukrainian saboteurs had entered the Russian region of Bryansk, taking two adults and two children hostage in the village of Sushany. Russia's secret service, the FSB, said it had begun work to destroy armed Ukrainian nationalists who crossed the country's borders.
