Cynical and shocking was the apology of 27-year-old Algerian Dabia Benkired for the murder of 12-year-old Lola Davier in October 2022, when she first raped, then stabbed, and finally strangled the minor, in a crime that shocked France.

As Benkired told the court, the day before the murder she had argued with her ex-partner and because of that "I told myself I was going to hurt someone."

Beginning her description of the fateful encounter for the 12-year-old, the 27-year-old from Algeria said, "I passed by a woman with her baby. And then I saw Lola. I asked her to open the door for me because I didn't have a card to open it."

Speaking coldly, the Algerian said that Lola then helped her carry her suitcases to her apartment, admitting that from that moment on she had decided to hurt her.

Continuing, Benkired said he pulled the 12-year-old by the hand to put her in the elevator that led to her apartment, while she begged him; "Madam, please don't hurt me."

As she replied, "don't worry, I won't hurt you."

As soon as Lola entered her home, the 27-year-old told the court that she asked the little girl to undress and take a shower, saying the minor seemed "scared."

After admitting to sexually abusing her, she said she then "hit his head with her hand on the shower wall", claiming it "wasn't too hard".

"They told me that when I tied her up, she was still alive. For me, she was dead," the Algerian said cynically.

"I started to stay with her because I was afraid she would tell her family. I took out all the hatred I had inside on her... However, I knew she would die." "It's not that I wanted to kill her, I wanted to hurt someone. But since I had raped her, it was better to kill her," Benkired said with a sense of insensitivity that shocked him.

Equally shocking was her description of the 38 stab wounds she inflicted on the 12-year-old, saying “her skin was hard, like a sheep’s,” adding that it was at that moment that she wrote the numbers 0 and 1 on the girl’s feet. According to Le Monde, Benkired allegedly told investigators that she saw a “ghost” in Lola and acted out of “fear” of this “devil incarnate.” The investigation also revealed that a few days before the murder, she had searched the internet for witchcraft.
