Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has strongly rejected the proposal by France and Great Britain to send Italian troops to Ukraine.

In an interview with Rai 1 Secolo TV on March 4, Meloni called this proposal “very difficult to implement” and questioned its effectiveness.

She stressed that Italy will not send soldiers to Ukraine, stressing the importance of Western unity on the issue.

This rejection comes after statements by French President Emmanuel Macron, who during a visit to Washington on February 24, revealed that France and Britain were developing a plan to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, including the possibility of sending European troops.

Macron clarified that these troops would not necessarily be on the front lines, but would serve as a "guarantee."

Despite these proposals, Meloni has expressed Italy's willingness to play a mediating role in efforts to resolve tensions between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She has offered herself as a "bridge" to improve relations between the two leaders.

In another development, Meloni has rejected demands to remove fascist symbols from the logo of her party, the Brothers of Italy. She has ruled out the possibility of removing the tricolor flame from the logo, saying that this has "never been a topic."
