Lavrov: Systematic attacks are underway against the Serbian people in Kosovo

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, accused the West of undermining peace and stability in the Balkans, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, stressing that Moscow remains "consistent in defending Serbia's sovereignty."

According to him, the actions of Western countries constitute a clear example of violation of the UN statutory principles and flagrant interference in the internal affairs of states. Lavrov added that "systematic attacks against the Serbian people and their fundamental rights" are taking place in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.

Referring to relations with NATO and the EU, the Russian chief diplomat said that Russia has no plans to attack these organizations, but warned that any "aggression" against Moscow will be faced with determination.

"Our proposals for legally binding security guarantees have been ignored. Meanwhile, threats against Russia are becoming more frequent. President Putin has repeatedly rejected these provocations. Russia has never had and does not have such intentions," Lavrov said.

In his speech, he also touched on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, accusing the West of trying to overturn UN decisions on the creation of the Palestinian state.

"A number of Western governments only recently announced recognition of Palestine. The question is why did they wait so long? It is clear that they hoped that soon there would be nothing left to recognize," Lavrov stressed.
