The Epstein Files

The US Department of Justice on Saturday released a batch of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, following pressure from Congress to make them public.

The law required all materials to be published within a certain deadline, but authorities said they failed to complete the process in time. This has sparked strong reactions from both political parties.

Although the documents have been published, much of the content has been redacted and is not accessible to the public. For example, important information has been withheld for legal reasons and to protect victims.

The dossier includes thousands of pages of photos, videos and investigative reports. They feature or mention well-known figures from politics and the entertainment world, including Bill Clinton, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson.

Authorities emphasize that the inclusion of these names does not mean that they committed any criminal offense.

Most of them have denied any connection to Epstein's crimes.

Some of the photos show former President Bill Clinton in the company of Epstein during the 1990s and early 2000s. These photos were taken before Epstein was first arrested.

Clinton has not been accused by the victims and has stated that he had no knowledge of Epstein's illegal activities. His spokesman said the photos are old and irrelevant to the current investigation.

President Donald Trump is also mentioned in the documents. A 2020 lawsuit describes an alleged event at Mar-a-Lago in the 1990s where Epstein allegedly introduced Trump to a 14-year-old girl.

According to the document, the girl felt embarrassed but did not make any accusations against Trump, while he has repeatedly denied any allegations.

The documents also include photos of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted of collaborating with Epstein.

In some images, Epstein appears in social settings with well-known artists and actors. It is not known when and where many of these photos were taken, nor whether he had any direct connection to these individuals.

An important part of the file relates to the testimony of Maria Farmer, one of the first people to report Epstein to the FBI in 1996.

She claims Epstein threatened her and exploited underage girls. Farmer said she finally feels heard after nearly 30 years.

According to the Justice Department, hundreds of thousands of other pages are still being reviewed and are expected to be released in the coming weeks. The delays and lack of explanation for the redactions have sparked outrage in Congress. Some lawmakers have threatened legal action against the DOJ for failing to fully enforce the law.
