And while the war in Ukraine seems unlikely to end quickly, another war front risks opening up, but on another continent.

The Financial Times reports that in the last days of April a series of secret meetings of Chinese officials were held in Beijing in various economic and financial sectors, from the central bank to commercial banks as well as representatives of state and private companies.

The topic of the meeting was to avoid or minimize the consequences in the event of a global economic blockade, as is happening in the case of Vladimir Putin's Russia. A preparation that according to some analysts is not at all theoretical, but precedes an aggressive maneuver against the goal of every Chinese government since 1949, the island of Taiwan.

It was in that year that the Chinese island where the Chain Kai-shek-led nationalists were transferred, after losing the civil war won by Mao's communists, began a system parallel to Beijing, where both governments continued to legitimize one the other.

Beijing is not ready to block assets or exit the Swift system. But on the other hand, sanctions like the Russian ones can hardly be taken over by the US itself. "As in the case of a nuclear war, the economies of the two countries would be destroyed bilaterally," said Andrew Collier, director of Orient Capital Research in Hong Kong.

Not to mention that a Beijing attack on Tapie would open a military front so large that the term "World War III" would no longer be a media finding to create a sensation.
