A storm of reactions has erupted in Italy after the publication on social networks of a shocking message, in which an Instagram user, who according to information works in the Ministry of Education and Merit, wished Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's daughter, Ginevra, the same tragic fate as Martina Carbonaro, the young woman from Afragola killed by her fiancé.
The message was made public by Fratelli d'Italia through a post on the social network X, where the political force described it as an act of "horror" and "unacceptable expression of political hatred that is crossing every human and institutional boundary."
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reacted immediately, emphasizing that this is not a political clash, but a sign of a rotten social climate.
"This is not a political confrontation. It is not even anger. It is something darker that shows a sick climate, an ideological hatred, where everything seems permissible, even wishing the death of a child to hit a parent. Politics must know how to unite to reject this violent climate. There are limits that should never be crossed," Meloni writes.
The prime minister's sister and Fratelli d'Italia official, Arianna Meloni, also reacted on social media.
"How long must we endure? How far must we go? In the face of this disgusting barbarity, we feel all the anger possible. The condemnation must be unanimous and strong. To Giorgia and Ginevra, my warmest and most protective embrace ," she writes.
The Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, confirmed that investigations are underway to identify the author of the message.
"I express my solidarity with Prime Minister Meloni and her relatives. This is an undignified and unacceptable act. The authorities will take exemplary measures. There will be no tolerance for violence," he said.
