A speeding car hit more than ten pedestrians in Modena, Italy. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, inside a restricted traffic zone in the city's historic center.
Seven people were injured, two in serious condition.
The driver, who was arrested, is Salim el Koudri. The 31-year-old Moroccan, born in Bergamo, lives in Modena. According to Italian media, he carried out this attack on innocent passers-by "because he felt bullied."
After the car he used to hit the pedestrians, the aggressor fled on foot and, as he fled, stabbed a passerby.
The young man was detained by law enforcement, with the help of several citizens.
As the local police explain, this afternoon, on Via Emilia Centro in Modena, a car traveling at high speed hit several pedestrians near Largo Porta Bologna. Carabinieri, police, Guardia di Finanza and ambulances arrived at the scene. Emergency helicopters from Bologna and Pavullo also came to the rescue.
As the mayor explained, the driver "went up the sidewalk, hitting a bicycle as well" and "then crashed, directly hitting a woman, who is the most seriously injured. They saw him with a gun in his hand, but he didn't manage to hit anyone. It seems he tried to attack someone."
The driver was stopped by several citizens. Four or five people followed him and helped capture the aggressor.
