It can be considered as a serious diplomatic incident with the Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias in Libya.
According to the first information, Mr. As soon as Dendias arrived at the Tripoli airport, he was informed that he would be received by the Foreign Minister of the Libyan government, Naila Mangous, who has signed the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum, which Athens has opposed in all international institutions.
According to the agreement, Dendias had to be received there by the President of the Presidential Council of the country, Mohamed Menfi, so he refused to meet with Naila Mangous, considering this change as a blackmail of the transitional government of Libya.
The incident occurred when the plane transporting Nikos Dendias to Libya landed in Tripoli, the place that the president of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi himself, had designated and was accepted by Dendias on the condition that only he would be there and no one else would participate in the meeting.
Dendias, without getting off the plane, communicated with Dbeibeh government staff stressing that the agreed conditions were not respected and then decided to cancel the visit to Tripoli and continue to Benghazi, TCH reports.
The diplomatic episode did not end there, as when the government plane requested permission to take off and travel to Benghazi, Tripoli informed the plane's pilot that it had no flight plan to leave the airspace there and move to Benghazi airspace. . The Foreign Minister and the rest of the diplomatic mission had to wait 1.5 hours inside the plane to take off and finally arrive in Benghazi, where Mr. Dendia's program continues.
Sources of the Foreign Ministry spoke of "dirty play", while emphasizing that the Libyan authorities thought they could blackmail the situation, with this sudden move.
The foreign minister of Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh's interim government, Naila Mangous, is the politician who signed with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu the Turkish-Libyan agreement in October, based on the so-called illegal Turkish memorandum by Athens. Libya in 2019, which has also been condemned by the international community.
The position of Athens, which is also joined by Egypt, is that the mandate of the Tripoli government is over and it does not have the legitimacy to sign international agreements binding the future of the country and that the Tripoli government is temporary in order to lead the country towards elections.
