Israeli forces claim responsibility for killing Hamas commander Ali Qadi

Murad Abu Murad

The army announced it had killed Ali Qadi, the commander of Hamas' elite Nukheba unit that led "the terrorist attack on Israeli communities near the Strip last Saturday."

According to the military in 2005 Qadi was arrested for killing and kidnapping Israeli civilians and then released in a prisoner exchange for soldier Gilad Shalit.

The attack targeted a Hamas base and resulted in the death of Murad Abu Murad, accused of playing a key role in leading the terrorists during last weekend's massacre.
