FBI: Don't charge phones in public

The FBI recently warned consumers not to use public, free charging stations.

According to the FBI, scammers have managed to infect devices with malware or software that can give hackers access to your phone, tablet or computer.

" Avoid using free charging stations at airports, hotels or shopping malls ," said a tweet from the FBI's Denver field office.

"Hackers have found ways to use public USB ports to inject malware and monitoring software into devices. Carry your own charger and USB cord and use a power outlet instead."

The FBI offers similar guidelines on its website to avoid public chargers.
