"Washington has been spying on key allies", reacts the US secretary:
Lloyd Austin

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has reacted after the release of Pentagon Papers alleged that Washington had spied on allied countries, including South Korea and Israel.

"The Guardian" reports that Austin, while talking to his South Korean counterpart, said that the US is trying to improve relations with the main allies.

Meanwhile, officials in Seoul denied the possibility that the president's office was the source of the leaks about South Korea's arms sales to the US.

The revelation of highly classified material represents Washington's worst breach of national security in years and includes details about Ukraine's munitions shortage and US intelligence-gathering methods used against Russia.
