Unusual in Pristina: The mother gives birth to the dead baby, the nurse takes
Clinic of Gynecology

In the Gynecology clinic at the University Center of Kosovo, a nurse confused the family that would give her the baby. But the event is even more serious, since one of the babies was born dead, while the nurse took the baby of the other mother to the mother of the dead baby.

One of the pregnant women was presented to the hospital with complications, where the attending physician explained that it was impossible to record the baby's death. Despite the intervention of doctors, they failed to save the baby. The patient was not informed that her baby was born without signs of life, as she had been under local anesthesia. The nurse came out of the room with the healthy baby in her arms, and introduced her to the patient as her child.

In this case, a report was made to the police for unconscious medical treatment at the Gynecology hospital at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo. The case happened last night around 19:40. This was confirmed for KosovaPress by the director of the Gynecology Clinic, Dr. Zef Ndrejaj. He said that the baby was born by cesarean section and according to him, the baby's mother was in a serious condition. He said that they urgently intervened in the case, but the baby could not survive.

Ndrejaj said that during the delivery, the patient who was giving birth was informed by the gynecologists about the health complications and that her baby would not survive.

At first, the reason for the nurse's act was not known, but in a press release from the Directorate of ShSKUK, they said that it is not about changing babies, but about the unauthorized provision of information by the nurse and confusion of information.

"Until the confusion of the nurse has come because at the same time there was another birth and the nurse of the Neonatology Clinic gave unauthorized information, confusing the cases, misinforming the parents," the communique says.
