Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that an agreement is needed on a state strategy to react to the first instance decision of the Special Court against four leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Kurti has pledged that the Government will provide support to correct the Special Court's decision, adding that it must assist the defense teams in the Appeals Court, but there will be a diplomatic reaction, he wrote on Facebook.

"The Government of the Republic of Kosovo is committed to providing support, in every way and with all the means at its disposal, with the aim of correcting the verdict of the Specialist Chambers against the former KLA leaders, which is legally and morally unjust, but also historically and factually incorrect. An agreement on a state strategy for the most appropriate and efficient reaction to the first instance verdict is needed, both in assisting teams in the appeal instances, as well as on the diplomatic level, is necessary."

The Prime Minister of Kosovo further emphasized that he will cooperate with international allies to protect the liberation war in the face of Serbian propaganda and, at the same time, to shed light on the massacres and other crimes committed by Serbia in Kosovo, which according to him, Belgrade is still trying to hide 27 years after the end of the war.

In midweek, the Special Court sentenced Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi to 81 years in prison for war crimes .

The convicts have announced their appeal to the Court of Appeal, while protests against the decision are constantly being organized in Kosovo.
