Balance of war in Paris / Two victims and 192 wounded! Destroyed stations, shops

Two people have died and hundreds more have been arrested across France, following the celebrations of the Champions League victory by PSG.

In the southwestern town of Dax, a 17-year-old boy died after being stabbed in the chest late Saturday evening, local media reported.

A 23-year-old man who was traveling on a scooter in central Paris was also killed after being hit by a vehicle, the prosecutor's office said.

Fireworks and flames were lit, bus stops were destroyed and cars were burned. The French interior ministry said 192 people were injured and 559 people were arrested, including 491 in Paris.

Twenty-two police officers and seven firefighters were injured, the ministry said, adding that 264 vehicles were burned.

The Paris Prosecutor's Office told the BBC that two police officers were injured by objects thrown at the Place des Ternes; while "several shops were looted" in the same area.

About 30 people were arrested and taken into custody near a Foot Locker on the Champs-Elysées that was robbed, the office said.

As clashes broke out near the city's Champs-Élysées and PSG's Parc des Princes stadium, most fans celebrated PSG's 5-0 victory over Inter peacefully, with many singing and dancing in the street or honking their car horns.

Approximately 5,400 police officers were deployed across Paris in anticipation of the boisterous celebrations. At least 300 detainees were suspected of possessing fireworks and causing riots, Paris police said.

"The riots on the Champs-Elysees were looking to create incidents and constantly came into contact with police by throwing large fireworks and other objects," police said in a statement.

Other clashes between police and crowds took place on the Paris ring road. At least two cars were burned near the Parc des Princes.

The French Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, took a tough stance against the disorder, writing on social networks: "Real PSG fans are enjoying their team's magnificent match. Meanwhile, barbarians have taken to the streets of Paris to commit crimes and provoke the police. It is unbearable that it is unimaginable to celebrate without fear of the ferocity of a minority of thugs who respect nothing."
