A father has discovered a bitter truth, as he and the whole family had decided to perform the DNA test.

On the "This Morning" show, Donna and Vanner Johnson from Salt Lake, Colorado, recounted how they discovered the 13-year-old boy was not their biological son, due to a mix-up at the IFV clinic where the couple had the procedures performed.

He said he has two sons, Vanner Jr, born naturally, and Tim, who are now both teenagers and very different in character, but this discovery never occurred to him until he took the DNA test. "for fun".

Appearing on the show to urge others to 'ask more questions' about treatment at IVF clinics, the couple explained how their story had a happy ending, as their son Tim welcomed the news saying: "Really? Well, you're still my father."

The father said he never questioned his wife's fidelity, however they decided to run more tests when the first answer came "father unknown".

Finally, the couple managed to find their son's real family, Devin and Kelly McNeil, a couple who had undergone In Vitro Fertilization procedures at the same clinic and at the same time as them.

He said they are now good friends with their son Tim's biological parents.
