Plane makes emergency landing, panic at Athens airport

A Lufthansa plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Athens airport after an engine problem was reported.

According to protocol, flight 1753 from Athens to Munich returned to Athens airport and the plane was evacuated through the emergency exit.

On the plane, as soon as the emergency was announced, panic broke out among the passengers.

The company's official statement says that the crew of the Airbus A321 received a warning message about a defect. Following safety protocols, the pilots declared an emergency to secure priority for an immediate landing.

The plane, which was carrying 177 passengers and 7 crew members, landed normally.

Due to a strong wind in the rear of the passenger cabin, the crew deemed it necessary to immediately disembark the passengers.

During the evacuation process, two passengers were slightly injured and transported to the hospital for first aid. The aircraft is being examined by technical experts to determine the cause of the problem.

"The safety of passengers and crew is our absolute priority at all times," said a representative of the airline, who apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused. (Protothema)
