The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo has held its tenth electoral assembly, a moment that marks the end of Ramush Haradinaj's 26 years of leadership at the head of the party and the transfer of leadership to Ardian Gjini.

The event was characterized by emotional tones, thanks and reminders of Haradinaj's political and military journey, while most of the Assembly was dominated by Gjin's speech, who built almost his entire address on the figure and historical role of Haradinaj in Kosovo.

In his speech, Haradinaj recalled the war period and the political engagement after it, thanking party members and comrades-in-arms for their support over the years.

"I had the honor of being a soldier and commander of the KLA... Since 2001, I have served Kosovo and the nation as the chairman of the Alliance, as your leader. I had the honor of being elected as an MP in every legislature, I had the honor of being elected prime minister twice with your support," Haradinaj declared.

He said that he will continue to serve Kosovo even after leaving the party leadership and gave full support to Ardian Gjini to take over the leadership of AAK.

"Today, President Ardian, we believe in you, we believe in you being our leader, in you being the leader of Kosovo... Just as I have trusted myself on my journey, so I trust Ardian," he said.

There were also emotional moments during the speech of the party secretary, Besnik Tahiri, who broke down in tears after Haradinaj's address and officially nominated Gjini for AAK chairman.

"It touched us a lot, but it also made us proud. Thank you Ramush, thank you our president," Tahiri declared to the delegates.

The keynote speech of the Assembly was delivered by Ardian Gjini, who began his address with a reflection on altruism and sacrifice, linking this concept to freedom fighters and the figure of Ramush Haradinaj.

"Is politics altruism?… Anyone who has gone to fight for their country without pay, not recruited, but volunteered, has shown the true moment of altruism, because they have gone for their country, for their people, without knowing if they will ever get anything, risking everything they had," said Gjini.

He also criticized, as he put it, "false altruism" in politics, arguing that the real sacrifice for Kosovo is being denied in public discourse.

"We have arrived as a people at a moment where the true altruism of people who have given everything for their country is denied, and the public is deceived with false altruism," he declared.

Gjini described Haradinaj not only as a party leader, but as a symbol of Kosovo and freedom.

"Ramush Haradinaj has not only been a party leader, but a symbol of Kosovo, of freedom, but also a symbol of the wise and normal politics that have taken place in Kosovo for 30 years... For the 26 years that I have served under your leadership, I have not missed a single minute," he said.

In the concluding part of the speech, Gjini spoke about Haradinaj's political legacy and his role in the period of war and state-building.

"The extraordinary stories of the Albanian people and Ramush Haradinaj will never be written down... All that will be remembered is what we left behind... I am convinced that President Haradinaj is not finished," he declared.

Gjini further said that the Alliance is continuing its journey on the trust, structure and political beliefs that, according to him, were created during the years of Ramush Haradinaj's leadership.

"We are not starting from scratch, but from an extraordinary building that we have built over the years. We are not starting from scratch, and this gives us strength: we can, the Alliance can, Kosovo can," declared Gjini.

He said that AAK enters this phase with the conviction that it has maintained its political credibility and Western orientation.

"We are starting from the belief we have for Kosovo, that we are not lying, we are not deceiving, we are not fake," he said.

Gjini also recalled the party's new slogan, "Security, Energy and Development", linking it to the Alliance's pro-American and pro-European orientation.

"People who make us feel good about why we love America and Europe are invisible pillars that have entered Kosovo and must leave," he concluded.
