Analysis/ Absurd vote of Elon Musk. Chaos reigns on Twitter!

Ever since the egomaniac bought Twitter, it's been absolute chaos. Now Elon Musk organized a vote for himself. But this is a farce, thinks Martin Muno.

Nearly 58 percent of all 17.5 million voters answered "Yes" to Elon Musk's question on Twitter about whether he should step down as Twitter boss. What does this mean?

The short answer is: nothing. The long answer is: Musk seems to be slowly losing interest in his new favorite toy, which he bought for $44 billion. Because since  buying Twitter he has had nothing but trouble. But pity for the second richest man in the world is misplaced. Because Musk himself is to blame for this miserable state, because he behaves like a four-year-old, stubborn child.

Twitter – global communication platform

Twitter is not some luxury product, Twitter is one of the world's most important communication platforms - if not the most important. Politicians and top managers, governments and NGOs, journalists and scientists, stars and ordinary people use the free service around the world to share information, get informed or exchange ideas.

And even if Twitter has always had  problems with hate speech,  the system has worked pretty well for years; among other things because many users in such cases have been sanctioned. The most prominent example was former President Donald Trump, whose account was suspended after he used Twitter to call for an attack on the Capitol.

When Elon Musk bought Twitter, chaos ensued. He initially fired half of all employees, only to persuade many of them to return a short time later (an effort that was largely unsuccessful). Likewise, anyone who dared to criticize the new big boss was fired.

Musk even accused Twitter's former security chief of having sympathy for pedophiles, prompting a series of death threats. There was certainly no factual basis for the conspiracy theory-style claim. Musk has shown himself to be a supporter of right-wing conspiracy myths in other tweets as well.

He showed what he really thinks about  freedom of expression  when, within days, he reauthorized hundreds of blocked right-wing extremist accounts, while at the same time blocking journalists who dared to post his — now publicly accessible — flight antics.

Si rezultat i sjelles së tërbuar të Musk-ut qindra partnerë i tërhoqën reklamat e tyre nga Twitter-i. Musk-u është drejtor ekzekutiv edhe i prodhuesit të automobilëve Tesla, dhe imazhi negativ që ai krijoi pas blerjes së Twitter-it pati ndikim negativ edhe në tregun e aksioneve të Teslas. Çmimi i aksioneve të Tesla-s është përgjysmuar që nga fillimi i vitit. Dhe pasuria personale e Musk-ut ka rënë me rreth 100 miliardë dollarë.

The biggest possibility for Twitter's future is that Musk appoints a dummy to rededicate himself in the coming months to his duties as entrepreneur of Tesla and his space travel company SpaceX. On the other hand, anyone who thinks that Musk will call to reason and make Twitter the platform it once was, also believes that the New Year's Eve really exists./ DW
