Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated during his stay in Brussels that the signing of a memorandum between Kosovo, Albania and Croatia in the field of defense is in violation of a sub-regional agreement and added that he is certain that NATO was not informed about this.
"This is a violation of the so-called subregional arms control agreement from 1996, but we have seen from the reactions of Croatia and some other parts of the region that they are not very interested in it. I am almost convinced that NATO was not even informed and that they were not even told which agreements were violated," Vučić said.
He added that he does not think Pristina, Zagreb or Tirana will be concerned about this.
"It is up to us, moreover, to emphasize to Rutte and the people in NATO and everyone else that this is a violation of what has been accepted, signed and respected since 1996. It is up to us to understand the reality and prepare for the future accordingly," the Serbian president further stated.
Kosovo, Albania and Croatia have signed the Declaration on Strengthening Defense Cooperation, while Serbia said it will request an urgent explanation from the Foreign Ministries of Croatia and Albania regarding the signed document.
"They have opened an arms race in our region, it is a difficult situation for us, but we have understood their message. And we will protect our country, we will deter them and we will always successfully defend ourselves from any potential aggressor, even such a powerful aggressor ," Vučić said.
