United States President Donald Trump has provided details from his Mar-a-Lago residence about the extensive US military operation in Venezuela and the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.

Trump declared that Venezuela would be administered by a group designated by the US, emphasizing that he is not afraid to put troops on the ground if necessary.

The US president also announced that the largest oil companies in the US will invest billions of dollars to rebuild damaged energy infrastructure, turning the oil sector into a source of income for the country.

"We will run Venezuela with a group and make sure it is run properly."

"We're going to rebuild the oil infrastructure, which is going to cost billions of dollars. It's going to be paid for directly by the oil companies. They're going to be reimbursed for what they're doing, and we're going to make the oil flow the way it should. As you know, the current production is just a small stream compared to the potential they have," he said.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Maduro "a fugitive from American justice," recalling that he had had numerous opportunities to avoid this outcome, but chose to act irresponsibly.

Rubio also confirmed that he has had contact with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, who has expressed her willingness to cooperate with the US.

Trump did not spare criticism of Venezuela's neighbors, warning Colombian President Gustavo Petro about the production of cocaine that is sent to the US, as well as describing Cuba as a failed nation.

"I think Cuba will be something we'll talk about, because Cuba is a failed nation right now, " Trump said.
