President Donald Trump has provided further details on the US military operation in Venezuela.

During his remarks at a press conference from the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Trump, praising those involved for executing the mission, said the lights in Caracas went out as Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro was captured overnight.

"No nation in the world could have achieved what America achieved yesterday. Or frankly, in just a short period of time, all of Venezuela's military capabilities were rendered powerless, while the men and women of our military, working with us, the law enforcement, successfully captured Maduro in the middle of the night. It was dark, the lights of Caracas were mostly off because of a certain expertise that we have ," Trump said.

"It was dark and it was deadly," Trump added.

"Under our new national security strategy, American dominance in the Western Hemisphere will never again be questioned," Trump said.

"The U.S. military remains in position, and the United States maintains all military options until our demands are met. All political and military figures in Venezuela must understand this: what happened to Maduro can happen to them, and will happen to them if they are not fair, even to their own people," Trump said.

We recall that US military forces carried out attacks on several Venezuelan military bases overnight and this morning and captured President Maduro and his wife.
