The perpetrator, identified as Diego Di Domenico, fatally stabbed 40-year-old Ana Tagliaferri, who owned a popular pastry shop in the town of Cava dei Tirreni, southern Italy. He then climbed onto the roof of the house where he lived with the victim and ended his life by jumping.
According to Rai, Domenico stabbed Anna eight times in the neck and face. During the fight, he also slightly injured her mother, who tried to protect her daughter. The only witness to the attack, she is now in hospital in a state of shock.
The mayor of Cava dei Tirreni recently presented the unfortunate woman, along with her siblings, with an award for fifty years of successful commercial activity. The municipality announced that, as a sign of mourning, all events that would have been organized for Christmas and New Year are being canceled.
