Princess Leonor of Spain will begin her military training from late August to early September. She will thus follow in the footsteps of her father, King Felipe, and train in the three armies (Army, Navy and Air and Space Force), in a plan that the Spanish Royal Family and the government have been working on exhaustively for months .
It was the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, who detailed the news at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, where he ratified the Royal Decree that regulates her passage through the Academy. Article 2 of the Military Career Law provides that "The Princess of Asturias may carry out a military career and have the military duties that, through the royal decree, determine the government, which is authorized to establish its own differentiated regime, taking into account the requirements of high representation and her status as heir to the Crown of Spain".

The decree stipulates that when the princess finishes her high school studies in Wales, she will begin her military training after the summer.
The Royal Family has argued in a statement that the Kings believe “that the military training of the Princess of Asturias is very appropriate and valuable; it strengthens the capacities of service and delivery and facilitates the duties of representation that he will have to undertake as heir to the crown".
