In the photo: Angela Merkel

For many years, she has been one of the most powerful women in the world. But today, she appears as a simple citizen, traveling with the free class.

Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, 68, was pictured flying with her husband Joachim Sauer to Spain.

According to BILD, she spent several days of vacation in a four-star hotel in Fuerteventura, where the night costs 162 euros.

"Whoever thinks that a former chancellor flies better than an ordinary German is wrong," writes BILD, noting that the plane ticket cost around 504 euros.

The only 'bonus' was that the former chancellor was allowed on board first. During the flight she read her tablet, completed a few crossword puzzles and ate a sandwich and red peppers that she had brought with her.
