The vetting process is considered one of the most important anti-corruption operations that Albania has ever undertaken, with the aim of restoring trust in justice, within the framework of justice reform. Despite several dismissals and controversial confirmations, Vetingu continues to be considered a model of success that should be followed by other countries in the region. At the end of 2022, the Vetting Commission took stock of the 4-year justice filtering process.

Out of 805 judges and prosecutors, 201 subjects did not pass the vetting filter. Out of about 600 prosecutors and judges, more than half are no longer part of the judiciary, while 94 subjects have resigned, avoiding the confrontation with Vetting.

Shqiptarja.com brings the complete list of prosecutors and judges who resigned from 2018 to the end of 2022. During 2022, 15 subjects resigned, including judges Artan Gjermeni, Pajtime Fetah, Arben Lera, Flora Hasimi, Sokol Tona , Bedir Qori, etc., as well as prosecutors Esmeralda Ndoci and Ida Ahmetlli.

Previously, the former chief prosecutor Adriatik Llalla, convicted of concealing wealth, the former chief prosecutor of Tirana Petrit Fusha, the brother of Lulzim Basha, Erlindi Basha, legal assistant at the Supreme Court, former members of the Supreme and Constitutional Court such as Arjana resigned Fullani, Aleksandër Muskaj, Mirela Fana, Andi Celiku, Evelina Qirjako, Guxim Zenelaj, Bensik Imeraj, Vladimir Kristo and Sokol Berberi. Presidents of courts and prosecutors, well-known names of justice such as Gjin Gjoni, Alaudin Malaj, Mimoza Brahimi, Agim Bendo, Astrit Haxhialushi, etc. have resigned.

Resignations have created serious vacancies, especially in the Courts of Appeal, increasing the stock of files. In order to alleviate the crisis of shortages, the HCJ promoted judges of the first level, appointing them to the Appeal. Meanwhile, the crisis in the Supreme and Constitutional Court has already been over for a year.
