The Minister of Finance, Delina Ibrahimaj, has submitted her resignation from the post. The request to leave the Government is on the table of Edi Rama, who will decide whether to accept it or not.

Reliable sources of Voxnews.al claim that Ibrahimaj submitted his resignation last week. The decision, sources say, is motivated by the investigation launched against the General Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Arlind Gjokutaj.

Gjokutaj was arrested by order of SPAK on the charge of abuse of office. He is accused of causing damage of 1.2 million euros to the state budget in the case of compensation given twice for a state property in Tirana to the citizen Ilir Thana, also accused by SPAK of fraud.

Officially, the government has been silent about this resignation. Unofficially, Voxneës.al learns that in one of the last meetings of the government cabinet, where Edi Rama was absent and led by Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, there were strong debates.

Meanwhile, apart from the still unofficial resignation from the Government, Delina Ibrahimaj has also been dismissed as political coordinator of the Socialist Party in unit 5 in Tirana. The decision was made last week.

The distancing of Delina Ibrahimaj was also noticed at the signing ceremony of the last two agreements that pave the way for the construction of the Port of Durrës from Alabbar.

The Ministry of Finance has a key role in this project, as the manager of the 33 percent of shares that the Albanian state has in the construction of this port. In addition, when the draft law for this concession was discussed in November last year in the Assembly, Delina Ibrahimaj was among the most zealous defenders of this investment.

Furthermore, Ibrahimaj has participated as a speaker or on a panel in all similar meetings, while she was absent from the signing of the final agreement, being represented by the deputy minister Besart Kadia.
