The person you see in the photo, provided by VoxNews, is Keli Hoxha, the 42-year-old who was killed in Berat. Hoxha was shot to death by 63-year-old Kristo Mema (also known as Kontandin Hoxha).
The serious incident occurred in the castle courtyard, in an area currently under reconstruction, in front of the victim's family and other tourists.
The 63-year-old did not have permission to give tourists horseback rides for a fee, although he had been practicing this activity for a long time in the city-museum castle.
Family members of Keli Hoxha, 42, who lives in Tirana and originally from Tropoja, say that the conflict started only because he touched the horse with his hand.
They deny that they cursed or insulted the perpetrator, stating that everything happened suddenly, after Keli had simply replied: "There's nothing wrong." Hoxha received serious injuries and died upon arrival at the Berat Hospital.
