The Government and the Presidency have renewed the diplomatic representations of Albania in most of the countries where our country has ambassadors.

The lists of names proposed by Edi Rama, after passing all the filters and being discussed in the parliamentary committees, were passed without any problem by the Assembly and forwarded for decree by President Bajram Begaj.

The latter approved without problems all the proposals, except for one of them. Comparing the list that has arrived at the President's office with the list that he has decreed, reveals that the name that is still pending is the proposal for the new Ambassador of our country to Hungary.

The name proposed by the Government is that of Qirjako Cirkos, a diplomat with a long career in the Albanian diplomatic service, who currently continues to exercise the duties of ambassador in London, but with an expired mandate.

Regarding its non-decree, the Presidency has been hermetic, not giving any comment on the reasons why President Begaj has not decreed it.

However, Voxnews.al sources claim that for Ambassador Qirjako Qirko, the Presidency has encountered problems in the purity of the figure. Regarding the type of problem, the sources do not give more details, whether the 'stain on the biography' of the Ambassador is new or long-standing.

 

If it will be the latter, then the scandal deepens even further and all the institutions that are involved in his selection and appointment in the diplomatic corps and not only. Qirko became part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991. From January 1999 to May 2001, he was the General Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office.

In May 2001, he was appointed ambassador of Albania to the Netherlands, then headed the minority section in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Department of International Organizations, in this same ministry.

In 2013 he was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in 2016 Ambassador of Albania to the United Kingdom, a post he continues to hold today. Ambassador Qirjako Qirko lists in his biography the position of investigator in the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, from 1986 to 1991.
