Erion Braçe reveals Rama's threat: If you don't vote for territorial reform, you're out of the parliamentary group
Socialist MP Erion Braçe spoke about the new territorial reform, invited through a video link on Top Story.
During the discussion, he also answered questions from studio guests, expressing his reservations about the way the reform was conceived.
He also explained Rama's statement, where he stated that the prime minister had threatened him that if he voted against this reform, he would be outside the SP Parliamentary Group.
"Social housing in the municipality of Divjaka? It doesn't exist. Divjaka is structured with private houses, where mansions cannot be built, because it is within a protected area. Distributing brochures for small businesses? Is this a competence? If we have transferred property to the municipalities, by decision of the Council of Ministers, but this is not a competence. Completely formal competences have been given that have no impact on the municipalities.
It doesn't matter how I vote today. No one wins from what's happening today. We had the opportunity to make a strong reform.
For me it's a losing battle. No one wins.
I have spoken my mind. For me, a great reflection is to transfer power. To give up power to strengthen those who are in contact with the people every day. People do not face each other online, but at the doors of municipalities. The concern is not only the delegation of power, but also the transfer from the mayor to the administrative units. I am not interested in having several prime ministers in the territory.
If it were a reform for good governance, I would definitely be in favor of it. It would be valuable for me to know today what status the cities that are created as an instrument between the municipality and the administrative units will have.
Rama said if you vote against, you are out of this Parliamentary Group. Not who votes, but 'you'. I am mandated to vote for reforms. I am sorry that this debate is going to this.
The territorial map has been made based on majority since 2014. The territorial map should not be made for party interests.
"Telling someone else that you will vote like the majority is not democracy. This is democratic deformation within the SP," said Braçe.
