Minister Ervin Demo has reacted after the publication of two videos, which show how police officers barbarically violate protesters (in one video, a police officer throws someone to the ground who was standing with his hands in his pockets, in another, they break the leg of a protester who was being dragged).

However, Demo justifies the police, saying that for 3 consecutive days he has been faced with a difficult situation, where dark forces have used militants, mercenaries and, what is worse, minors, inciting them to acts of extreme violence against the Police, institutions, businesses and private property.

Demo's reaction

I have become aware today of two cases of exceeding the powers of the Police forces, through images that have been made public in the media or social networks. I have immediately requested that the relevant structures of the State Police take measures, referring to the necessary verifications.

I thank the Director General of the State Police for the suspension measures of the 2 employees in question.

For 3 consecutive days, the State Police has found itself faced with a difficult situation, where dark forces have used militants, mercenaries and, what is worse, minors, inciting them to commit acts of extreme violence against the Police, institutions, businesses and private property.

I have requested throughout that the Police response be proportionate and never exceed the limits set by the law, just as I have requested investigation and punishment for every violator and lawbreaker. But the law will absolutely be equal for everyone, both for those who, politically motivated, violate with the aim of creating chaos in Albania, as well as for uniforms that exceed the powers of the law.

The professionalism of the State Police is measured not only by the ability to guarantee public order and security, but also by respecting the law and the dignity of every citizen. I have been and am very clear about this and any violation found will receive the deserved response in accordance with the law.

Today I want to make an appeal above all to the parents of those minors who participate in violent acts. Talk to your children, do not allow them to be used by evil politics and do not let them grow up being educated that the way to win is through violence!

Once again, I want to assure all Albanian citizens that the rule of law will triumph and security and public order will be guaranteed!
