The lawyers' boycott that has created a deadlock in the Special Court has forced the High Judicial Council to intervene to normalize the situation. The High Judicial Council has held a meeting with the Chamber of Advocates of Albania to discuss the situation created by the boycott and to find possible ways towards normalizing relations with the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC).

During the meeting, representatives of the Chamber of Advocates presented their positions regarding the created situation, proposing concrete measures aimed at resolving the problems and restoring the normality of the judicial process. At the end of the discussions, the parties agreed that the representatives of the Supreme Court of Justice would convey the positions and proposals of the Chamber of Advocates to the Special Court, with the aim of reaching an agreement between the parties. Among the demands of the Chamber was also the restoration of normality to the processes in the Special Court.

The meeting is seen as a step in the efforts to find a solution to the current situation, while it remains to be seen whether the proposals presented will lead to an agreement that will pave the way for the normalization of the situation and the end of the lawyers' boycott. At the moment, there is no confirmed final agreement, while it is expected that the parties' positions will also be discussed with representatives of the GJKKO.

The Chamber of Advocates decided to boycott all sessions of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, because they oppose the new regulation presented by this court. Initially, they participated in the sessions for the assignment of security measures, but later, these sessions were also boycotted, creating a collapse with continuous postponements. So far, the GJKKO has imposed several fines on lawyers, while Maksim Haxhia, the head of the Chamber of Advocates, has stated that any lawyer who breaks the boycott risks having his license revoked.

So far, only one lawyer has lost his license for this reason. He is Lefter Xhengo, who participated in the hearing for the security measure against the administrator of the Elbasan incinerator.
