Whoever uses gas cylinders for his activity will have to make the mandatory insurance. The decision of the Council of Ministers has received legal force and provides that restaurants, hotels, construction and production companies and even state institutions that use boilers, gas cylinders or equipment under pressure, will be obliged to provide insurance, based on the level of the risk that the devices they use are categorized.
The contracts that they will need to conclude with insurance companies must foresee the cases of risks that these devices can cause.
Thus, for equipment or plants under pressure with low risk, the minimum limit is 10 million ALL per insurance event and 20 million ALL in the aggregate, while for medium risk equipment 20 million ALL per insurance event and 40 million ALL in the aggregate.
Also, the government's decision determines for high-risk plants, the minimum limit will be 35 million ALL per insurance event and 70 million ALL in the aggregate and those with very high risk, 50 million ALL per insurance event and 100 million ALL in aggregate.
The use of gas cylinders under 5 liters is categorized as high risk, which means that the insurance policy will have to be calculated on the basis of this categorization level. As for the 5 to 150 liter cylinders, the categorization is for very high risk.
Only steam and hot water boilers in production are categorized as low risk, in cases where they have a volume of up to 300 kilograms per hour to 2000 kilograms. Also, high and very high risk are categorized technical gas cylinders, fuel tanks such as fuel tanks, industrial technological lines, etc.
This decision comes at a time when the State Technical and Industrial Inspectorate has undertaken a control action in the accommodation structures on the safety of pressure equipment.
