Cereal import prices have fallen, but this has not been reflected in the price of bread that the consumer buys. According to data from customs, during the first months of this year, one kilogram of grain was imported almost 40 percent cheaper, compared to the same period of the previous year.
But, contrary to what could be expected, this drop has not brought down the price of mass bread. The head of the Agri-Food Trade Union Theodhori Kristuli also lists the reasons, which come from the increased costs as a result of the increase in rents and also the increase in labor costs.
Therefore, Kristuli considers the decision to differentiate the price of electricity for bakeries that serve as a pastry shop or as a coffee bar the right decision that places these subjects in equal positions.
From this month, the price per kilowatt for bakeries is 7.6 Lek. Meanwhile, for those ovens that have integrated other services, specifically, a kilowatt pastry will be charged at 9.5 Lek, while those that also serve as a coffee bar, the price applied per kilowatt will be Lek 12.
