Monetary tactic, BSH buys gold ingots from devaluation of currencies

The Bank of Albania is using another monetary tactic as currencies have depreciated heavily, buying hundreds of kilograms of gold bullion.

It is reported that in recent weeks, the Bank of Albania has bought 10 thousand ounces or 283 kilograms of gold ingots.

This amount brings to 110 thousand ounces or 3.1 tons, the total amount of gold that the Bank of Albania has accumulated.

The value of this amount of gold is around 200 million euros.

Currently, gold occupies nearly 4 percent of the Bank of Albania's reserve, the rest is foreign currency reserve in euros, dollars and other banknotes.

The foreign exchange reserve currently held by the Bank of Albania is over 5 billion euros.
