Loan applications/ Banks rejected 11 thousand citizens in six months

At least one in five citizens who turned to banks for loans in the second half of last year were rejected.

The data comes from the financial stability report of the Bank of Albania. The report says that in the second six months of 2022, there were about 64,400 applications in total, of which about 55,000 applications were from citizens and the rest from businesses.

Of these applications, the banks have rejected 20 percent of them, or about 11 thousand in total. The figure is lower for businesses, where nearly 6 percent of small and medium-sized businesses and 3 percent of large business applications were rejected.

According to the data of the Bank of Albania, the total rejection rate has also decreased in the second half of last year. But what is noticeable is that banks with foreign capital have increased by almost 5 percent the rejected applications, including businesses and individuals.

According to the Bank of Albania, from the above analysis, it can be concluded that the progress of the applications reviewed by the banks during the second half of 2022, indicates a restraint in the applications of individuals, while loans for businesses have increased.
