Reconstruction after the 2019 earthquake, 25 percent of the fund has been used

From "no traces of the earthquake" to "everyone in new houses", sometimes with deadlines "in the spring" or "no further than autumn"... four and a half years after the earthquake of November 26, 2019, the reconstruction process continues .

Data from the Ministry of Finance show that by the end of May, 1.8 billion lek came out of the state budget, mainly for the reconstruction of buildings. Compared to the January-May period of 2021, 2022 and 2023, the earthquake fund has decreased, indicating that most of the necessary works have been completed.

The data show that from 2020 until now, 92.3 billion lek, or almost 900 million euros, have come out of the state budget for reconstruction and rent payments for those who lost their homes. The high amount was forced to come out of the state budget as a good part of the funds promised at the "Donors' Conference" could not be received.

The data from "Finance" show that a total of 7 billion lek are planned to be spent on reconstruction this year. So far, 25.7 percent of the available fund has been used.

Since 2020, when the process started, until now it turns out that a total of 2 thousand 250 individual houses and 4 thousand 500 apartments have been rebuilt. By the end of the year, it is planned to complete the work on 105 buildings under construction to mark the end of the "Reconstruction after the earthquake."
