The latest official data from the Bank of Albania show that, even during the first quarter of this year, the very positive trend of foreign investments in our country has been maintained. The flow of foreign direct investments has touched a new historical record, of 354 million euros, while in the same period a year ago, their value was fixed at 307 million euros.

First, about 23% of the total flow came from anonymous investments by country of origin. There are 80 million euros in foreign direct investment flows in the first quarter of this year, which appear as "other for reasons of confidentiality". It is about 22.6% of the total that does not have an "origin label" for the public.

"Scan Intel" has analyzed the figures to understand the geography of foreign direct investments. Specifically, investment flows from Turkey during the first three months of 2024 have reached close to 69 million euros, thus accounting for 19.5% of total investments. Meanwhile, Italy follows in second place with 41 million euros of investments. Austria follows in third place, followed by the Netherlands, Kosovo and Germany.

In contrast, investment flows were lower from China, Greece, Sweden and Slovenia, whose value ranges from 1 million euros to 3 million euros. If we extend the analysis to the time frame of one year, we notice that countries such as Austria, North Macedonia, and Kosovo have had the highest growth of investment flows in Albania with 47.8%, 50% and 81.8% respectively.

Meanwhile, investments from the Netherlands have lost ground compared to a year ago as they were recorded at 25 million euros, or 35 million euros less than in the same period of 2023. Likewise, investments from Greece, France, Sweden and Slovenia.
