The minimum wage will undergo another increase. Prime Minister Edi Rama has publicly announced that the minimum wage, whether for the public sector or the private sector, the minimum wage will be 40 thousand new lek.

This increase will take effect in a few weeks.

"Perhaps it is the right thing to share with you that the minimum wage will soon reach 40,000 ALL. That is, a matter of a few weeks. And it will start to apply in a very few months for everyone. We do not want a salary lower than ALL 40 thousand in the Republic of Albania either in the public sector or in the private sector".

The Prime Minister also said that the government is working to raise the minimum wage to ALL 45,000 within two years.

"We believe that this increase is appropriate and not only that, but we also believe that by contributing to a mechanism that we are completing, the minimum wage will increase in the future and we want it to reach 45,000 Lek within 2 years. So those of you who are just starting school, keep in mind that with every increase in the minimum wage, you will receive the supplement above the minimum wage with which you start school".

Rama made these statements during a meeting with students benefiting from the new study scholarship program of a minimum monthly salary.
