The Council of Ministers has postponed until December 31, 2022 the state of emergency for electricity.

In the government decision, it is said that the decision was taken on the proposal of the Deputy Prime Minister, Arben Ahmetaj and the Minister of Energy, Belinda Balluku.

"The state of emergency in the supply of electricity extends its effects until December 31, 2022", it is said in the decision taken on Thursday.

The Government of Albania in October 2021, declared an energy emergency until April 2022.

Prime Minister Rama at the time stated that the decision was taken due to rising electricity prices in international markets.

Following the decision, the government made public a three-point plan, which included guaranteeing energy supply, protecting families and small businesses from price increases, and allocating 100m euros to the electricity distribution company at the end of this year. and 100m euros early next year.
