Women and youth will have the opportunity to benefit from tax breaks if they choose to invest in agritourism structures in the country.
In order to promote the development of the sector, the Ministry of Tourism intends to undertake a series of steps by 2027, starting with the employment of young people, but also the inclusion of women: "The number of businesswomen 55% within the year 2027, the number of to young businessmen 40% by 2027 and the approval of tax reduction for the purchase of land by young people and women are the facilities that are included in the strategy".
As a step after the development of tourism in the country, this hosting activity that takes place on a farm or other agricultural structure, through the strategy is expected to increase the number of structures, better quality service, digitization and more agriculture-tourism cooperation.
Jonida Hëna, entrepreneur in agritourism, says: "Agritourism works in difficult conditions and they are heroes who do this and help a lot in the development of the economy to keep people in rural areas, to have an open door in remote areas" .
Referring to the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, the number of certified agritourism structures is 25, noting that it is not widespread enough. But, according to the entrepreneurs, among the problems they encounter are the lack of support, but also the infrastructure that does not allow them to develop.
"We have asked the members of the association to list the problems and infrastructure is in the first place. From the statistics that we have, every agrotourism has 4-6 km of very bad roads", emphasizes Hëna.
With the publication of the strategy, local structures held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture in Gjirokastër, where other facilities were agreed upon: "There are some restrictions on subsidies, especially for the heads. The minister suggested the union of farmers to reach the number of heads and give the money. Also, the problem of horse subsidies was raised, which will also be included".
This strategy until 2027 foresees a law on agritourism, new certification procedures, a portal dedicated to the sector, but also more subsidies.
