The expenses for the car occupy a significant place in the family budget and with the increase in prices, especially for oil, Albanians are finding solutions to save themselves from fat bills. 3 out of 4 cars that circulate in our country use diesel as fuel. For 1,000 kilometers per month, a car with small cylinders costs an average of 16,800 lek per month, about 30% of the average salary.

Gasoline car registrations have also been reduced by around 10% between January and September 2022, compared to the same period a year ago. Gasoline costs individuals an average of 16,200 ALL per month, per 1,000 km.

Because gas is cheaper, about 8,500 lek per month, Albanians are preferring cars that have a gas plant installed. On the other hand, using an electric car could be a solution, as it spends an average of 2,700 lek of electricity per month, but the problem lies in the initial investment, as these cars cost more than 25,000 euros.

Oil consumption has dropped by 13%, while citizens are choosing other alternatives for personal transportation. Public transport is not practical and comprehensive in Albania, the car is costing unaffordably, while the solution is found in bicycles, scooters and walking.
