WB: Albania endangered by external debt

The World Bank predicts an increase in the public debt for Albania, or a reduction in the budget for public works within this year.

It has revised the forecasts for recovery and social support for this year.

The World Bank says the Albanian government should increase aid to the poor to protect them from rising market prices.

According to the Bank, the economic growth for this year will be 2.7 percent, lower even than the forecast of the International Monetary Fund, while for 2024 the situation is not better.

The bank says that even after two years, the economy will grow below the level of 2019, and the high level of foreign debt is a danger for our country.

Exposure to this debt, says the World Bank, makes it difficult to refinance it through international markets.
