'185 million euros unpaid bills', who is the institution that consumes

The government has decided that all state institutions save 15% of electricity compared to 1 year ago. For this, an energy administrator will be appointed in each institution and if the target is not reached within 2 months, a fine of 50,000 lek will be imposed.

Energy expert Azmir Dulevič claims that the institution that has the biggest electricity bill and is the biggest debtor are the water utilities in our country.

"There are 185 million euros in unpaid electricity bills. This is one of the enterprises that has the largest consumption in terms of electricity, but also the local, public administration, especially during the winter months, the electricity bill increases," said Dulevič.

Among the institutions that spend the most, apart from water pipes, are the municipalities. According to him, there is also a waste of electricity, since the lighting stays on even after the early hours of the morning.

The replacement of old lamps with LED lamps has been partially implemented, while the expert called that the mayors should be held responsible since they did not cooperate with the plan for energy efficiency.
