The start of the construction of the Thumanë-Vorë-Kashar road, a public-private partnership awarded last year by the government, has brought the need to relocate the high voltage power lines that are located on what is the track of the road, or the distance of safety.

The Transmission System Operator announced that at least two power lines will be moved while a third will accommodate the needs arising from this move and for this a procurement procedure is being carried out with a limit fund of 328 million Lek or 3.1 million euros.

OST announced the contract with the object "Relocating the lines affected by the track of the road axis Thumanë - Vorë - Kashar and installing the dismantled pillars on the line Fier - Rrashbull" giving details on the lines affected by this project.

The first line according to OST is Line L220-13/14 Koman - Tirana 2 which is interrupted by the route of the new road in 2 segments.

"In order to respect safety distances with the route of the new road, the line L220-13/14 Koman - Tirana 2 will be diverted from pillar No. 198 to pillar No. 201 as well as in the second segment from pillar No. 224 to pillar No. 234. For these two segments, a new track has been chosen for lines L220-13/14 Koman-Tirana 2", OST assesses.

Meanwhile, the second line is L110-2/2 Laç 1- Kashar and which is interrupted by the route of the new road in the camp between pillars No. 133-134. The third intervention will be on line 220 - 15/3 Rashbull - Fier. The poles dismantled from the line L220-13/14 Koman-Tirana 2 will be assembled on the line L220-15/3 Rashbull - Fier.

This procedure opened by OST and related to the concession of the Thumanë-Vorë-Kashar road comes a few weeks after another procedure opened by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy which started the search for the selection of the independent engineer who will supervise the implementation of the contract of the concession granted last year.

PPP contract Thumane-Vorë-Kashar

The Thumanë-Vorë Kashar road project was won by the "G2 INFRA" and "Gener 2" companies through a contract that provides for the design, construction, operation, maintenance and transfer of the axis in question and the contract passed to the government in May 2022.

A basic revenue plan for the entire concession period of the Thumane-Vorë-Kashar road provided for over 1.3 billion euros (without VAT) and 1.56 billion euros with VAT, which would go to the beneficiaries of the contract.

The road with a length of 21 kilometers starts in Thumanë and continues to the Tirana - Durrës highway, with which it is connected by means of a new junction at the level.

The new highway will pass through the urban and semi-urban areas of Thumana, Fushë Kruja, Rinas and Vora and will connect 2 points: the 4-lane segment in Thumana in the north (Start of the project) with the Tirana-Durrës highway in the south ( End of project).
