Headway c14urea breath test system
The newest system used at Intermedica for the detection of Helicobacter Pylori.
Accurate, non-invasive and rapid testing for the diagnosis of Helicobacter Pylori (the main cause of gastric and duodenal ulcers).
The Breath Test is used:
- To detect active cases of pylori infections.
- To determine if a patient is actively infected with pylori, before and after therapy. A positive C14 breath test result only indicates that the patient is actively infected with Helicobacter Pylori.
- The breath test can avoid patients with positive pylori serology (but no signs of active infection) being treated unnecessarily with antibiotics. Breath test (UBT) C14 is positive only in patients with active presence of Helicobacter Pylori.
Monitoring of treatment efficacy
The C14 Urea Breath Test is generally accepted as the most appropriate non-invasive test for determining the presence or absence of H. Pylori. Even after successful treatment, serology may remain positive for 6 months or longer and will not reliably indicate whether or not elimination of the organism has been achieved following treatment. The C14 test can determine the eradication of H. Pylori only 4-6 weeks after treatment.
Examination conditions:
Urea Breath Test is performed in the morning and you have spent at least 6 hours sober. The patient should not have smoked and coffee, performed physical activity and taken gastroprotectors or other medications 12 hours before the examination. In addition, the examination should be performed at least 3 months after the end of antibiotic treatment.
