The weight that independent energy producers had in the total energy produced in the country until October was only 13 percent.
This amount, although seemingly modest, occupies an important part of the net production in the country, as the Albanian Electric Power Corporation, thanks to the good water situation, produced 61 percent of the total domestic production this year, recording over 4.3 million MWh.
Periodic 10-month energy data show that net production up to October was 7 million MWh, of which independent producers put over 921,000 MWh on the market.
Currently on the market as independents are Devoll Hydropoër with the two HECs Banja and Moglica, Kuruk with the HECs privatized by the state, Ayen with Peshqesh and Fangu as well as ECO Energy with HEC- Qami.
Meanwhile, in this category there is already a subcategory that includes independent photovoltaics that sell on the free market. Of the total energy produced by independents in 10 months, photovoltaics took a share of 1.8 percent of the group, a still modest level.
During this year, KESH has had active exchange agreements with Kosovo, where the data show that until October, 1.4 million MUH of energy, an amount equal to 32.7 percent of KESH's production, were deposited in the Kosovo Power Corporation.
Regarding the energy balance, Albania is a net exporter until October, considering that the consumption was 6.4 million MWh, almost 91 percent of the net production. Mainly during this year the country has based its supply on domestic production thanks to a good water situation unlike in 2022 when the energy crisis reached its peak while the water situation was not favorable at all.
KESH was engaged during this year in several energy sales procedures which brought tens of millions of euros in income, while since the first 10 days of December there has been no new procedure. The 10-month data of the cascade show that for the Fierza HPP lake, the level has been continuously decreasing since June, reaching 263.5 meters above sea level at the end of October.
